I am currently taking an After Effects class and I'm loving it. Here I have posted my first version of my first assignment entitled "Optical Poem". The lesson was to create a poem using basic shapes and animate them to a song or sounds of choice. The song I have chosen is J-Dilla's "The Red". Let me know what you think.

Font Savvy World
Hello all it's been a while since I last posted. I have been busy in the studio trying to finish my last month of work at Pratt Institute.
In the past few weeks I have had the pleasure to journey around the many boroughs of NYC. On my travels I have come to the conclusion that this world is made up of text and fonts that insinuate the character of different businesses. In the distance of about 50 feet one can find at least 7 different fonts used to represent different businesses, or places of worship, etc. In the design world, designers strategically choose fonts to relay the message behind a specific place or thing, or to speak to a specific audience. Many times, observed on my journey, fonts have seemed to be used for decorative purposes instead of being pondered on before use. This is a clear reason for designers to known who their target audience is and the message behind something before they delve into the design process.
So on your next journey, I encourage you all to observe the fonts and texts around you and know that they actually mean something and should be handled with care. Fonts are the worlds babies. Without them there would be no real character to the things we want to get across to the rest of the world or to a specific group of people.
