Premiere City.....

In the past few weeks I have been fortunate enough to attend a private screening of Precious and the world premiere of Disney's Princess and the Frog. They both were enjoyable experiences and if I could do them all over again I would.

Precious, with its heavy subject matter, was just that, HEAVY. Deep, moving, nauseating, disturbing and probably other things that I just can't find the right words to say. At this point I'm sure most of the world has seen it and if you haven't GO NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It left me speechless without a smile although we see its main character muster up enough strength to overcome her past and look to a brighter future. Now, as I type to the world, I long to see it again, with a different audience and I almost want to come out of the theater with a different frame of mind than I did when I left the screening. The audience, I must say, laughed way too much for me at stuff that I knew was normal but for some reason was funny to them. The audience alone angered me. Their lack of sensitivity to the characters. Their lack of knowledge, their ignorance to the real world. It bothered me.......

But on a happier note... This year has been a major one for African Americans and it has neared its end with finally a African American princess, Tiana. Setting a great example for all little African American girls near and far, that they too can be princess, have dreams and strive for them by working hard. The film and concept I must say is not late. As they say about God, it's right on time. It deals with good and evil and life and death, some of which I thought was a little bit much for girls ages 4-8. But it was amazing to be on the red carpet and see all the actors and singers(Anika Noni Rose as Tiana, Terrence Howard, Ne-yo and a lot others), it was amazing. The only disappointment is that the one person that likes to make history and played a role in the film did not attend. OPRAH SHAME ON YOU!!!! For someone who so badly wants to change the perceptions of young african american girls across the globe, you should have been the first to attend. SMH... Shame on you!

.... I guess that's it! The only thing left to do is LIVE, LOVE, CREATE...

Untimely Return

Hello world,

It is now 11:11 pm on the left coast. I've been told at this time I'm supposed to make a wish but instead I decided to blog. The last time we rapped or chatted in u may, I shared my work. Well at this moment in time. My work goes into growing the tween and jun
ior fashion markets at the Walt Disney company. I am nearing the end of the fourth week of my six month internship. I have been working on a ton of things in these short weeks, from Disney Couture sleep/loungewear (check out 80spurple.com for Disney Couture clothing and jewelry, it's Dope if I must say so myself) to the new TRON trend boards (youTube Disney Tron trailer, extra dopeness for that one). As you can tell I have been enjoying my time thus far and hope it brings better opportunities in the end.

I have also gone back to one of my all time loves, Photography...Pics will be posted later.

New work will be coming soon... I am even thinking about diving into the painting world to express my inner most thoughts and feelings. Also look out for the long term collab (Dub Kreative) with the most talented Knotz of Knotz Creations. I speak it therefore it shall be. Be inspired by everything around you, for it shall produce a greatness for which was previously unknown.

LIVE LOVE CREATE..........

P.S. I graduated in May from Pratt Institute with a BA in Communications Design. YES! Lol

DU Dorm

I dare not put the company name(Disney) in the title because they may feel like they have rights to my work. But I pitched a dorm idea for this company last summer when I had a chance to intern at their "wonderful" company. If you look into their history they cater to the likes of everyone from newborn to adult, EXCEPT, yes except for college students and me being a recent graduate from art college feel that I know what college students are looking for in terms of design and comfort. So here is my idea I'm releasing to the world. And yes I took the time to get the product produced. Here you have it a bed-in-a-bag line consisting of three distinct designs that take shape from three distinct art categories: Vintage, Modern and Urban.

And yess that is a mini bed!!!!!!!

Oh and my talents don't just stop at designing. I spent one week, yes just one, putting together a 17 page presentation for the VP (which I did get to present), from cover to cover. Facts, Images, Design Ideas, etc. You got it!!!!

Doze Restaurant

Okay, we all have gotten sleepy after eating an enjoyable, filling meal right? But we had to wait until we got home to go to sleep or nap. Now introducing the first ever restaurant with beds. You no longer have to wait to go to sleep after a meal. At Doze you can nap for however long needed in comfortable beds that range in size. *This is a restaurant I have created* Above are ads for the restaurant as well as the menu. The menu is displayed on a pillow.

Scribble Jam

Scribble Jam is an annual Hip Hop festival held in Ohio. The event usually takes places over three days and includes all different events from freestyle contest to a graffiti contest. Other events include a beatboxing contest, scratching(dj-ing) contest, as well as a break dancing contest.

Above is a brochure I created for the event. The brochure gives insight on the actual event, where it's held, and what goes on as well as how to obtain tickets. The brochure is a two-fold, three panel brochure. The first image is of the cover. From there you have the next panel that you would see if you opened the brochure. The last three are of the inside panels, what you would see if you opened the second panel. (The festival, special events, and tickets panels, respectively)

All City Body Spray

All City 5 Boroughs Body Spray is a line of scented cologne that will remind you of your favorite New York City Borough. Whether it be the Bronx, Manhattan, Staten Island, Brooklyn or Queens, you can now represent your borough to the fullest extent, with this line of Body Spray. Extensive testing had to be done in order for you to smell like each individual borough. All City has brought out the best, most memorable scents and have now bottled then for your borough loving enjoyment. The unique design of the box and can is reminiscent of the 1955 red IRT R-17 subway cars. These cars are most noted for their extensive graffiti work. The actual can is reminiscent of a small scale spray paint can. The unique design will attract any graffiti artists' eye, but the scent will be sure to attract the likes of everyone.

The cans as well as the boxes are color coated which each different color representing a different borough. The boxes also contain dicuts in the areas where the windows would be so you can see inside the box, like looking side of the train through its windows. Also on the bottom of the cans are silhouettes of the NY skyline.
